Looking at these two crankbait rods priced at $100. Abu Garcia VRCW76-6 Veritas Winch Crankbait Rod - 7' 6" MH or the Shimano Compre 7'6 MH Crankbait Rod CPC-C76MHC?

I'm planning on using the rod for DD22 type deep running crankbaits as well as for traps. Also I prefer either of these rods since I don't care for micro guides with my ABU 4600C3 reels.

Anyone have experience? Pros and Cons?

Veritas.Had no problem with mine. I did break a 7 foot winch, but I got it replaced at Bass Pro. Just keep your proof of purchase. For 50 to 60 bucks more you can get shimano crucial.

I use the Veritas for D22's. The only thing I don't like is the eyes bend very easy.

Broke my first Veritas Winch on the first hook set. 6 inches down from tip. Do a search and you will see a LOT of similar stories. BUT, BassPro let me buy the rod protection, I replaced it with another Winch and havent had a problem since. It handles DD22's and DD14's very well. Have landed some nice fish on it and all seems good. I did put a Curado on it and it isn't as tight of a fit in the reel bed as I would like. Have to screw it down every now and then. I imagine a Revo winch would be the perfect fit.

shimano hands down!! i have several of their crankin rods and i love them and if you break it just take it back to the dealer where you bought it or send it in for a free replacement.

I prefer the Shimano rods, over the Veritas rods. Heard too many things like the above, breaking the tip off on hook sets or even casting. I would upgrade to the Crucial, rod, but that is just me. Hope this helps.

After buying 3 veritas I I'll never buy another. 7ft winch broke first time out. 7 6" doesnt cast as well as,other cranking rods I have used. I think there is other options for 100.
