We are heading down to join the Skeeter boys for our top dealer trip and hoping to catch some bull reds on top water. Trout are going crazy right now also... Some guys were asking about the fishing down there, so call me or Monte or PM us if you want a daily fishing report. We got 18 good guys going down including my employees and the Bass Champ boys. If the stores are a little scarce of employees for 3 days, I apologize- but my guys have worked their buttocks off earning the top Skeeter dealership award, and they deserve a little fun in the bayou sun!
Post up if anyone needs Venice info,

Dont leave the bass tackle at home (heavy flipping stick w/80# braid pegged weight) flip the rosoe cane and get your arms broke!! lol Wish I was off this weekend I would head that way only two hours from the house.If Venice aint doing head up river to Delacrox it is on fire bass,specks,and reds.

All I can say is WOW...TRIP OF A LIFETIME! We got back in at midnight in the RV on Wed night with sore arms and stories to tell. Pics will be posted shortly, but I have to tell you that the bull red bite was unbelievable. Day one, Monte and his boat boated over 40 Bull reds between 35" and 44". If you've never caught one, imagine a 20 to 27 lb bass in 4 feet of water, stripping 80# braid down to the knot. The last day, Craig Shuff, Chad Potts and myself hooked up 31 bulls (landing 24) from 7:30 to 10:15 because we all had to vacate by noon to catch some flights out. The pic coming of us holding the triple 36" to 40" reds were all caught at the same time. Total circus!!!! I been down there 7-8 times and stayed at a couple of places, but The Venice Sportsmans Lodge right over the water crushes the others. Best beds, best chef, best location, and no trailering to water. Plus the a/c will drop it down to 56 degrees in there at night. Just ask my boys lol. Stop by Fun-n-Sun if you want more details, but I suggest everyone do this once. Jig fishing at its finest.... Thank you Skeeter Boats, Capt.Dan at VSL, and Capt.Brent Roy (THE BEST GUIDE GROUP IN VENICE)for taking care of my FNS employees and Bass Champs brothers, Jeff    Chance Vann with a big black drum   Limited out on trout and keeper reds  Naomi "our cook" with fresh trout  Wes Cooper with a 44" monster bull red  Me and Chad Potts caught at the same time!  Granbury Kit Getchell first cast Wednesday morning  The start of every morning in the bayou

What type of rod/reel setup were you using? You mentioned stripping 80# braid.....how much on reel?
When I go, I don't want to get into a gunfight with just a switch!

When I go, I don't want to get into a gunfight with just a switch! Curado or such, on a 6'8" to 7'1" med-heavy rod. Basic bass set up is the most fun, min 50 lbs braid.
