This trip wasnt in a kayak but since I usually fish in one I decided to post it here. My friend and I decided to combine an offshore tuna trip and our annual fishing trip to Minnesota. We left for Port A on a Thursday and headed out on an 80 hr trip. We both had a couple of new reels that we bought for a california trip and were chompin to try them out. I ended up with two yellowfin about 65-70 lbs a piece, 40 blackfin, red and vermillion snapper and two amberjacks about 50 lbs a piece. Dave hooked three yellows and lost em. One cut the line on the bottom of the boat and the other two pulled the hooks. All of em on topwater along with the bigger blackfin. He also hooked two nice amberjacks and lost em both right before the gaf. I dont know what the deal was with him losin fish, usually doesnt happen. Got back to the dock and headed home Monday night to leave for Minnesota Wednesday afternoon. Our plan was to fish specific lakes for Largemouth, Smallmouth, Walleye, Northern and Musky. The weather had a different idea and it rained five out of the nine days we were there. We put on the rain gear and fished it anyway. Ended up having alot of fun with the largemouth and northerns. They were non-stop with a few large ones caught. The largest was a 6-3 largemouth. The walleye were going as well. We fished two days for them and caught 40-50 fish, one really nice. Fished lake Clittheral specifically for smallmouth and caught 18 one morning. It was 38 deg and the wind was about 25 mph..it was cold...The musky didnt happen. Not even a follow. Oh well..It was a great two weeks with lots of fish for the freezer. The area we were at has so many lakes within 30 minutes that we found areas to stay out of the wind on most days. Swimbaits were the ticket for most of em, even the walleye. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/v7bahzbgisv15k3/zx3xZufP1Whttps://www.dropbox.com/sc/brh62rm3f3p9ngg/aGJEn7f_0dhttps://www.dropbox.com/sc/qubzfeh3jsvtgez/G5vcIYm89xhttps://www.dropbox.com/sc/cue15buxwuyf9ew/ZxCbR3Pz6-https://www.dropbox.com/sc/hl26c8ts5aodr5i/xii1OkGknLhttps://www.dropbox.com/sc/kju6u5mv7xxm3u7/blpFKmP1Bshttps://www.dropbox.com/sc/bui1q73mha3is8t/I0wR21Pmp-https://www.dropbox.com/sc/587lipuyt3e9v8l/8-ZBNBrRxjHere are some links on dropbox for a few pics..
