Something happened today I'd like to talk about. I made arrangements to go fishing with a new person who didn't have a kayak. No problem I've got a few use mine. Many of us do this and its great fun to share the sport with others. We were meeting at 7ish. Dougy and I loaded three yaks and got to the lake. After waiting till 7:30-40 with no word from the new guy. I texted...nothing. luckly we had a way to lock the third yak to the truck or it couldve been stolen. Even with the lock it can still be stolen or vandalized. We launched worried. We all have a lot of money, time, sweat and blood wrapped up in our yaks and that should be considered when you ask another to borrow. Be respectfull. If you can't make it, text or call. It didn't matter if they came or not but for a kayak to sit unattended in a truck is not a good feeling.

Heck yeah man, have some respect. Christian is a super cool guy for even offering to take you out and on top of it to lend you his kayak. Have the decency to call or text if you aren't going to make it.
You are better than me Christian, I would have had all kinds of vulgar language for that guy.

Thanks for the invite today. We had a great time on the water with you. And Doug, nice meeting you. Tight-lines!

It seems you've done that for a few folks which is really cool. Sorry to hear you had someone no call/no show. Hope everything is okay on their end.

Fish eat things. I'll put things in the water that fish like to eat. I'll attach these things to a hook, line, rod, and reel. How hard can this be?

Glad you had a lock.... Would have ruined the trip if you wouldn't have. A call would have been nice...

No. It sure won't. One of the greatest joys I get is from sharing kayak fishing with as many people as possible. There are sooooo many awesome people on here that have a ton to share. All I guess I'm saying is don't take that for granted.
I was very lucky that yak fin had a cable...I didn't...but now will for sure. Twards the end of the trip I did recieve a text from him saying he had a late night and forgot to text.

I've started keeping my cable and lock in my truck just in case. Locking them up is always a good idea.

I've had that happen to me numerous times. The more you offer the more likely it is to happen. So, I just keep offering and keep going but I take my two heavy duty cable locks with me and after a reasonable amount of time I (like you did) lock up the spare yaks and go fishing.

Things happen. Sucks, but I think it might be worth it to get to expose the rest of the people to what fishing can be. It's just like everywhere. Those people are around, not much you can do about it.
