IMO, any wind forecast that is more than two days out is not going to be reliable. The lake will always be +5mph windier than what is forecasted in Denison. If wind is coming from the south then launch on a south shore and vice versa.

Be safe. Fishing in difficult conditions can lead to mishaps that cannot be undone. Error on the side of good judgement every time. Fishing is supposed to be fun. Getting beat up with a bumpy boat ride can lower your fun factor.

The old Texoma formula for wind speed is simple. If the predicted speed is 15 to 20 mph then add the two numbers to get 35 mph. This will be your correct wind speed for Texoma. noidea banana

Aptly said BB! Plenty of good day to fish. Maybe unable to undo some mishaps. That's what I remind myself constantly. And that voice seems to grow stronger with more greys on my head.

Do you know what dirty sox smells like?

Texoma doesn't get big waves it gets swells like the ocean. Years ago my Dad and Momm got stuck on a beach on the OK side for 26 hrs. in a 15' Lone Star. Storms blew in and the lake stayed rough that long.

Well its nothing like the ocean but it does get pretty rough out there. I don't recall ever canceling any trips due to the wind but you just have to know your boat and use some common sense. With that being said anything over 20 starts to take some of the fun out of it.

Truthfully if you are asking .... You are worried. Listen to your first impressions.

I have done Texoma many times in big winds with my 17 ft G3 but it is always a lot of work.....

Best to find a place to put in out of the wind and just not fight it.

I used to hit Texoma in a 19ft Four Winns and it really didn't matter how much the wind blew. Now I have a 17ft G3 and it matters alot!!! Me and brother fished Texoma during 35mph winds last year in his Champion CC, it handled the waves fine but it did take all the fun out of it.
