I bought a Brand New Minnkota Maxxum trolling Motor ($725 retail at Bass Pro) on a close out sale at Academy. The close out price I paid was 199.89 new in the box. The Bad News is I had to drive to Port Arthur to pick it up. Don't Bother checking, there are none in the distribution center, and not a single one at any other Academy Store in the country. It may turn out to be not that great a deal. It's too early to tell. I have three of these motors now. Two of them are in the shop and I don't know if the new one even works yet. I do have lots of spare parts if anything else goes wrong. LOL!

Dutch, sounds like a GREAT deal to me! Even taking into account the time, gas & meals there & back (you & the Mrs. can make a Road Trip out of it), you're probably still gonna have less than $450 in it. Plus, being NIB, even if it's DOA, it'll be under warranty. Heck of a deal Dutch!!

Hmmm, sounds like they want you to spend a little money visiting/fishing in Port Arthur...as I recall it is fishing season down that way...so why not make a fishing trip out of it...Dutch, not a one of us here that wouldn't make that drive to go fishing...plus we would be BRAGGING about it....

Bull REDS are making their annual fall run right now. I used to go to Port Arthur 3-4 times a year. I fished on the beach right down the beach from Sea Rim State Park. Great Red & Spec fishing!!!!

We make three-four trips a year to Gulfport to fish the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a week. Sounds as if we need to check Port Arthur for a trip.  As others have stated, you will still have a bargain after the expenses to pick it up plus you get a chance for a fun fishing trip. Sounds to me as if it is good news/good news.
