Any advice an a good offshore spinning reels? Price range is $100-200, also maybe a decent rod and the type of line to put on? Primarily fishing for snappers, kings, amberjack, and ling.

a quantum Cabo pts-60 would be nearly perfect, but DONT vertical jig with it! it will break the A/R clutch. A better choice (A/R sprag+ brg.)that would handle EVERYTHING you want + small tunas would be the new Shimano Saragosa SW-6000, but you're gona have to pony up around $260 for it. did I mention it looks WICKED!
Load it TIGHT with Daiwa Samurai 40# or Jerry Brown hollow 40# & you'll never look back!

You're asking for a reel to cover 4 different kinds of fishing. The only one I know that would come close in that price range is a Shimano Spheros 14000FB or 18000FB and it would be large for snapper and kings. You would learn to hate the handle also, but that can be fixed. The Saragosa would be worth the extra money But I'm not sure I would want to hunt Amberjacks with a 6000. Maybe a 10000SW.

I definitely want something I can vertical jig with, last trip I was on kings were hitting on top and I was jigging for snappers on the bottom, got a couple of amberjack and ling too. I was looking at shimano saragosa 18000 but don't wanna spend that much, looking at a penn battle too but not quite sure. What about some line recommendation?

Battle's are nice. One thing to note about them. The Penn sizes don't match the Shimano and Daiwa sizes. A battle 6000 is about the size of a Shimano 8000

My advise would be to check out the Fin Nor OFS series. With a drag of 60 lbs you can handle nearly anything.

I've had good luck with the big penns. 9500 or 95s I think, with 30lb mono. Usually can be had for around $120. Not fancy but they have gotten he job done for me. I have caught a lot of big kings, and sharks with the penns. Freelined ribbonfish, ribbonfish under a balloon, or weightless cut bait is usually on one of big pen spinners. Fishing a weight on bottom (snapper), I use Diawa XSHA 50s as boat rod setups.

be sure to get a old 9500 if you are going penn. We stripped the gears of over 4 reels and they do not have parts for those any more. The older 9500 penns used nice brass gears and held up alot better. This is what we use now. http://www.quantumfishing.com/products/1904/Cabo-PTs.aspx

For around a hundred bucks, my choices are 1. Cabo PTS 2. Shimano Spheros 3. Daiwa exceler/ saltist, thou a bit more 4 don't have much experience with Penn battles but the SSM or 950, 850 series all have potted gears. No bueno.
If your really going offshore,.just remember the amount of money invested in the trip. It's an expensive boat ride if you don't have gear.
From my personal experience, I used a 12000FA spheros on a 56 hr tuna trip on the scat. Brian was there, I landed my very first 60 YFT with out doubt in my gear, other than the aftermarket handle fallin off, but that was installer error. With a Cabo 60, my buddy too it chunking in Venice and endded up getting chewed on by a 150 + yellow fin. About a 45 min fight into her, line/rod gave way. Spool was hot but she got my attention
That's my .02$

thanks for the feedback gents, trying to get a reel without breaking the bank. Thinking if i bought a shimano saragosa 18000 that could possible cover all genres of fishing, but if something out there can still get it done and is cheaper I'm all for that. I have to take into account how expensive braid is too!
