Is the Crappie Max Combo from Bass Pro a good Crappie set up? Has anyone else used it? Thinking about getting one since they are on sale.

Depends on what style of fishing you plan on doing. It looks like they are 4.6-6.6 foot long and limber.

If you plan on fishing timber or BPs from a boat, use that $40 to buy an 8' PAT rod and get any ole reel to start with.

Good fishing!

I use the 7ft Crappie Maxx rod on a daily basis for going on three years now. It comes with a super cheap two year warranty. I am very pleased with the rod.

I seen the combo's on sale the other day. They look like they will get the job done. I thought about getting one to try out in the creeks. But I do have 3 of the Crappie Maxx pro rods with Abu Garcia st10's mounted. I love that rod. very sensitive. I know this is PAT country around here but in my opinion, the Crappie Maxx pro is hard to beat

Yes, look crappie maxx and Pro Angler compete for the same customer, so by design they are similar in all pertinent respects. Any time you can pick up a combo for the same price as the comparable rod, not a bad deal.

Now, that said if you can find a Shakespeare Micro Series Rod...they are a very similar rod to the two listed above and will only cost you $17 or so. Then you can spend the extra savings and buy a Shimano reel....you will be better served with the Shimano reel over time. Hope this information helps.
