Just heard on 2 different radio stations this morning that the hydrilla is considered completely gone now. Most of us already knew this but the point is how the radio stations depicted the hydrilla. They said it was clogging up everyone's motors and it was so bad they were worried would take over the lake. So they deemed the grass carp a huge success. People are clueless

Those same people will blame fishermen and tournies for the drop in numbers and quality of bass.

Was there a few weeks ago and there was still alot of it everywhere on the upper end......but.....saw huge carp sitting in the middle of the beds just chowing down on it on multiple occasions.

I beg to differ you were seeing milfoil. In TPWD's last survey 0 hydrilla was found.

That's a shame.

Those people don't care about fish at all its about water sports and their 400 k boat docks.

Austin needs a big name fisherman to make the radio rounds and explain the truth.

I don't think it would help here. If conroe can't keep grass, Austin has no chance! Its a different world out here with a completely different view of conservation.

Jaret is right. I used to fish Lake Austin for years and now live near Conroe. It's all about the money, the fishermen come second to the happiness of Dock owners with deep pockets.

Any grass will be removed on pleasure and ski lakes. Only lakes like Fork and Rayburn will be left somewhat alone.

I can't believe with all the tree-huggers (no offense, Hippies) in Austin that this was allowed to go down. By introducing carp into this lake, didn't they just introduce carp into the entire river system?

Hope it turns into a mud hole and the drought eventually lowers the water level there like it has on Conroe. The same Conroe a-holes that begged for carp now have a lake that's so low they can't get most of their boats out of their boat stalls.

I love seeing those homeowners mowing the grass on the dry lakebed in front of their bulkheads.

Same thing that has happened on Lake Conroe more than once. And, Cypress Springs.

Fishing will still be good for a couple years until the forage base is brought down to a sustained level. I could see some giants caught this coming spring for sure

Ooooooh, you gotta just love having a ski boat come between you and the shorline, when you're casting to the shore. IT HAPPENS!!! Not much love at all for us lowly fishermen! Sad, but true. Though the cooler weather will "decrease" the general recreational/ski traffic , there are always still some ambitious hardcore skiers. Maybe I'm getting old, (and I've skied a lot in my life), but seeing a skier at sunrise makes me muscles hurt and stuff...hahaha...Yeah, but anyway, back to THIS topic, there is waaaaaaaay, waaaay too much $$$$$ out there. DUH! Unfortunately, MONEY and expensive real estate will KILL grass. It's already happened on Dunlap and McQueeney and that's right in my backyard...Arrrrggghhhhhhhhh!

http://ryanwagsfishing.com/ Let's go catch some fish! **Videos on my site's home page.
