Taking an 11 year old fishing Sat morning. Plan on Amon Carter but want to hear your opinions....Ray Roberts, Worth, Lewisville. .....mainly chasing LMB but Crappie are always welcome. Any place that is sheltered would be beneficial if the winds get to rolling. He can bank fish but this is his first kayak trip...if you dont mind please advise launch points.
Thanks in advance. JT

Arlington is a great green fish lake.
Either East side boat ramp would do, Richard Simpson (for the dam), or Bowman Springs (for more southern).
I would HIGHLY advise against the western boat ramp.

I would try out Amon Carter. Since it will be the kiddos first time in a yak, I would try to stay as close to the house as possible. Never know how long they will last on the water. Took my boy out once and he lasted 20 minutes.
Fish on the new side in the timber. It's been a while since I was there. Not sure how the bite is right now.

You can tie him on a white squarebill and turn him loose on lake worth. Good chance of catching a few there

Thanks to everyone for the input. Weather looks like it may be a factor. Wont keep me from fishing but his mom will have my butt if he catches a cold...Amon Carter will be the lake of choice ( its closer if it gets to storming ) What's the story on Jacksboro? I've never been there. Read a few posts on it today. It looks like it would produce fairly well also. Thanks again for all the info

There are two lakes in Jacksboro - the north one is Lake Jacksboro and looks like the better lake - full of timber, all sea gree water but I didn't have much luck on it when I went about a month ago. The lower one called Lost Creek reservoir is the older lake, darker water, no timber, just lots of fishable rocky shorelines. I had great success there pitching to the rocky shore line, especially NE corner near the damn. Lake Bryson north of Bryson, the little town 12 miles on down 380 from Jacksboro is a great little lake with both timber and rocky shore lines. Anyhow, wacky rigged Zoom trick worms in Red Bug color were pretty successful on those two a month ago. Also had success in the Caddo LBJ Grasslands (NE of Decator E of 287) - on those little lakes back in the summer - like Cottonwood and Black Lake - although they are really low, but all lakes are low!
