Wife and I took a short trip down to the Hill country to fish the Guadalupe and San Marcos last week. We fished the Guadalupe from the first crossing down to Gruene. Managed to catch about 20 bass between us. Best baits were baby brushhawgs and weightless Senkos. Water flow was great, with a few decent rapids along the way.

San Marcos between Martindale and Staples was a different story. Looked like the river had been up 4-5 feet the week before and was still muddy. Lots of downed trees and a short portage around a BA cottonwwod that had fallen across the river. We've had success fishing this stretch in the past, but not this time. Suggest that anyone considering this stretch give it a few more days to settle out and get clear again.

Good luck,

Dave
