Have a trip planned in a couple of weeks to go to Big Sam for the first time. But now I'm getting cold feet because of the low water and unknown areas to run. The recent fishing reports have also been less than I expected. On the other hand Falcon is up over 10 feet in past month, and fishing seems to be picking back up. I've been going to Falcon for the past 8 years, and am comfortable running the lake at its current level.

If you were faced with this decision, which would you choose, and why?

Its hard to catch a 6lber at rayburn right now. just depends on what you are looking for but if its big fish, falcon is the choice. you can catch 40 at rayburn but you might have 10 keepers.

Falcon is getting at a good fishing water level now. Lots of freshly covered stuff to fish.

I live in Austin so both lakes are about the same in how much time it takes me to get there, give or take a few minutes. I usually choose by however style I feel like fishing. I fish Falcon a lot differently than I fish Sam. Very rarely do I put too much emphasis on reports. I've been when the fishing is supposedly terrible and tore them up, and its been the other way around as well, "should have been here yesterday." With common sense you will get around just fine on Sam.

Long story, short just base your decision off of how you feel like fishing.

Falcon is really good right now if you like fishing shallow, numbers mixed in with some size.

Hit me up if you need a place to stay if you do decide to come on down!
