I truely believe it's more important to invest in a good knife sharpener. I clean fish almost every weekend. I keep about 4 dexter russel knives and i keep them sharp. A good fillet knive will last for about 20 fish. If you go to the coast and go to one of those charter boat areas in the afternoon when all of those party boats are coming back in you will see what those people who clean fish for a living are using. They don't use electric knives, then again when you go to a deer processing plant you don't see those guys using an electric fillet knive. Why? I have an electric fillet knive, but I only use it occasionally, like when there is a lot and I'm the only one cleaing the fish, but it's sloppy, I tend to leave to much meat on the carcus, and then to cut into the bones too much, but it's fast, that is also why most guides use electric fillet knives, it's fast and they don't care what they miss. I prefer a long thin blade, so I'm not sure I would like the bubba blade. Northern Tool sells a knive sharperner for about $80 and it is all you will need. It sharpens the knives like a surgically shapened knive. It will shave the hair off your arm. Or you can really go all out and buy one at the House of Blades in Fort Worth - it's just like they use - last time I bought one it was $270 that was 10 years ago - they are now $400.
