Get the St Croix, and you won't need anything else. Once you fish with a high quality rod you can't fish with junk anymore.
How can you say a rod is JUNK if you've never fished it ??? I have several St. Croix rods and they are great.. I've also fished the competitors rods and they to fish well.. Please explain how they are considered JUNK... Jigum

I will put a pro angler rod and a bonehead tackle rod up against any rod out there. PM sent ! Could you acknowledge?

Thanks for all the advise guys...I fish Dobyns with my bait cast and was hoping they had something but to no avail. Looks like I'm going to have to try a couple of different ones and see what fits me best. Really interested in the Bonehead line... Thanks again! Dobyns makes some fine Crappie rods, however they are quite a bit more than your price range.

I have 3 St Croix rods and 2 single piece Tica's and I really like both but the Tica's are ny favorites. some folks on the forum believe that Tica no longer makes a 8 ft. single piece rod but that not so. Tica came out in January 2013 with their new 8 ft. rod which is a nicer rod than the orignal and they are in the $100 range, I also have 2 of the original Tica's and the new one are much nicer. You can contact Radley @ Tica 800-390-5268 and he will tell you all about them. Good luck in finding what your looking for

I fish with the 7ft Crappie Maxx from Bass Pro Shops. It cost roughly $60, and for an extra $8, you get a two year, no questions asked warranty. That's a good deal for someone who fishes for a living. I'm not saying it's the best rod ever produced by mankind, but it helps pay my bills.
If money is not an option, I would contact Randy Nelson and have him make you a custom. He goes by Ratmo here on the forum, and he's built the absolute most beautiful rods I've ever seen.

Josh met me in Lindale last week with my rods and a few different colors of jigs. Really nice guy that went out of his way to bring them to me. I fished all day yesterday and am absolutely in love with these rods. I caught a ton of bass on minnows yesterday and the rods did great even with bass in the 3 to 4 pound range. Only managed a few crappie but they were quality fish and the rods are exactly what everyone said they would be...awesome. Even did a little dock shooting and the rods were perfect. Thanks again Josh

I'm not going to get into this discussion but, recently I found a rod sock that I like that is less expensive than the competition and better quality in my opinion. I bring this up as I find that a good quality rod sock helps protect my investment and keeps my equipment organized better than anything else I have found. I don't know the guy that owns the company but, he is a vet and his products are made in the USA and his customer service is outstanding. rodcondoms.com is the website, I believe.
