but it's my first real fish on a fly rod and if I weren't technically challenged I'd post the pic ... a 12" LMB on an Orvis 9' 5wt with a #10 black/olive WB ... just don't ask me to price it by the pound !!

... just don't ask me to price it by the pound !! kinda like Fight Club, that's rule #1, to not talk about the price per pound of fly fishing

Or price per fly of fly tying....
Or price per fish of fishing trips...
Just rest assured your cost per pound will go down if you fish enough.
Or at least is should, unless you go back to Orvis, or Cabela's, or Bass Pro, or find some of those pesky online fly shops that send you sale notices by e-mail....

it's a hobby and you spend money on hobbies. I have been spending money on fly fishing for the past 60 years now.

Paid $260.00 for a 6wt from Orvis in 1996 with a lifetime gaurantee. Have broken it and had it repaired and replaced many times free of charge. Thats about $15.00 per year for the rod so far. Not too bad. Flies, waders, and other costume type apparel is a little more but still. Costly to get started for sure. But no regrets here.
