I wear wading boots. I had a ray hit me twice and the boots worked. Thank goodness. I actually worry more about sharks if I have fish on a stringer.

I've been stung by a little one and I've only wade fished in the bay maybe 10 times. After that sting I bit the bullet and bought raygards. Well worth the $100. I didn't want to be out wade fishing alone and get struck after that incident.

FYI- get your foot in as hot of water as you can possibly stand as soon as possible after a sting. I ran to a convenience store bought a styro cooler filled it with the hot water from the tap on the coffee machine.

I'm not sure if they will fully protect you against a big ray but they should at least help.

painful to say the least.. i've had this on 3 occasions, stung right thru a wading shoe once thru a sandal strap and once striaght on in thru ankle bone..... hot water is the only instant pain reliever, stuck my ankle under the motor water discharge for several minutes just to get my thoughts straight... partner cruised us back to ramp slowly with my foot hanging over transom under hot motor spray...

yeah guys i was raised fishing in shorts and old tenny shoes and shuffleing my feet but when a Ray wants you he's gonna git you aint no 2 ways about it.....25 years ago we would flounder at night and see a few rays...go floundering now and you might see 500 theyre everywhere now the population has gone thru the roof

My brother was hit by a hardhead a few years back. Ruined the whole trip. He won't allow them in the boat anymore. I hate those dang things!

Fished the Keys out of a kayak a lot and had a big one jump out of the water just beside me tail whipping, I swear it came less than a foot from hitting me in the face. I seldom wade even in clear water.

I was in the surf all day yesterday.

Kayak is the way to go and wear your ray leggings

won't find me out in the saltwater unless it is in a boat.

getting 150#+ tarpon hit and getting only half a fish after one bite from a bull shark broke me of gettin back in.
