Look for drop offs, fish the bottom of the ledge where it levels off. They eat lots and lots in the fall for the "Texas winter" so it's hard to give them the wrong thing. Also, fish a wind blown bank. Not only do they like to feed in that area(churns up the bottom and they eat he blood worms and insects), the undertow takes the flavors of your bait and disperses it farther out in the lake.

Great information! Thank you. I found a point where the fish were active off a point. I cast out, my pole would giggle but I was missing the bites. I am trying Dough Bait, corns and worms. I am experimenting with different setups/rigs... I am used to white bass and Catfish. I may be getting too anxious... Any words of wisdom completely welcome !

You need to wait for the carp to take in your bait and take off with it. Fish with your drag extremely loose, or with a baitrunner reel to ensure you don't lose your rod. Once the fish runs, lift your rod, engage the standard drag, and pull back against the carp. Don't attempt to set the hook like you do on a bass, you'll likely rip the hook out of it's mouth. Hair rig is the ideal setup.
PB common = 41 lbs PB mirror = 22.5 lbs PB buff = 26 lbs

If your getting the bumpity bump from buffalo set that hook, they do not hook themselves nearly as frequently as carp.
