Was curious to see it there might be some interest in this. Been thinking about it now that Im back in a Jon boat. Was thinking hp limitations to 50 hp and fishing smaller lakes in north texas. Moss, Amon g carter, bonham, grapevine, etc. possibly 3 fish limit due to livewell sizes. Low entry 30-40 bucks 100 percent payout. Interested in any feedback on the subject.

We used to have these tournaments; called the Texas Small Waters Tournament Trail. We fished lakes like Cleburne state park, Mill Creek, White Rock, Mineral Wells State Park, Holbrook, Hawkins and Marine Creek. We had a great time when people actually showed up. The problem was, everyone would get on here saying they planned on fishing but only a few would actually show up.
I think where we went wrong was trying to fish too many lakes, most of which required travel for a lot of guys. We were just trying to make everyone happy by coming to their local lakes because we got requests from people all over the state wanting us to come to their side of town. If you were to revive it, I would suggest you set your boundaries and stick to them. Maybe call it the DFW Small Waters Tournament Trail and fish small lakes within DFW and even small arms of big lakes and using off-limits areas to keep everyone safe. We found out that you won't ever be able to keep everyone happy when it comes to something like this; so find out where your core group of guys that are commited to fish is and keep it in that area.
If you wanted to try and revive it send me a PM with your email address. I can send you all the forms, logos, rules ect and you can take that as a template, make any changes you want and roll with it. It would be pretty cool to see it brought back to life.

Well this is what i had in mind keeping it local would need 10 boats or more to make it worth while. Like the idea of staying on a small arm of larger lakes to stay safe too i hadnt thought of that.

I think I would make it smaller than 50hp. 10 or 15hp at the largest. Any larger that that could only use the trolling motor. Even include the buster and pelican type boats in the tournaments. Been thinking about doing the same thing in east Texas but every time something comes up. May try again next spring.

Either way. Some small lakes here such as Daingerfield State Park Lake are no wake lakes. Probably could only use the trolling motor anyway.

I fished the TSWTT for a couple of years. Thought it was a lot of fun. I drove 6+ hrs. four of five times a year and listened to guys biatch about having to drive 2 hours. I think we were trolling motor only except to load and unload. Good luck.

this sounds fun. Wish something like this was around back when I was rolling in a bass buster. Might have to buy one if you get these tournaments going!

Filled my tank up last night was empty 12.50 to fill up man that is nice. Probably can fish 3-4 times on this tank sure beats the100 plus I had to put in my 200.
Anyone? Feedback on lake choices and rules?

Good luck with that Brad. Your gonna just have to put something together and see who shows up. I think you should keep local till you have more interest in them. (River Rat Bass Club)
