 Engine fires but wont start

Went to take the boat out and got it in the water went to fire the engine and itll turn over but wont stay running when it fires its an optimax. Have made sure all the obvious are right, kill switch, master power switch and primer bulb are good. Any suggestions would be awesome. Hoping its something stupid im overlooking.

If its sat for awhile carbs could be gummed up. My Yamaha pro v did the same thing snd I had a pinhole in one of the hoses from the fuel pump to motor.

http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Merc/M...ENTS/parts.html I would start with changing #10. You need to clean the area below his filter good with a suction bulb. Water likes to set their. You can get the filter with the tool to change it.
