It depends, there are a couple of bp's on waco we can reach from the bank. 7-9 ft at one place and about 9-10 ft at the other.

Reports i am getting from LL is that they are around laydowns and submerged brush practically hugging the banks, running from 3-12 ft of water. Fishing a jig/bobber(cigar slip cork or a stop cork) in those depths around the edges of the debris, laydowns, and brush/limbs should get ya some. also a straight cast, with a slow but steady retrieve, no bobber, should entice a few out of the entanglements to inhale your jig. I use these techniques both from the bank and in a boat when i am out with Papa Peck or Mr Paty, or both, and do rather well.

I go super light. 1/32 or 1/16th oz jigs, hollow body tubes, 6 lb trilene XL. The longest rod i use is a 6 ft cherrywood with a Quantum UL reel. Casting distance is no problem since the fish are near the shore anyway. and of course in a boat, you are on top of em, lol.

Colors don't matter much. when you find em, yu can get em!

Rudy

caught them today before and during the rain in 1-3 ft of water with jig/bobber. Small little local lake not a major lake today.

I use a slip bobber and start by seeing how deep it is where I am fishing. Then I move it up about 6 in. at a time to fine them. I just cast and twitch the bobber every few seconds, not too hard, just enough to make it move an inch or so.

once the water clears, head for shallower water, or near the mouths of creeks with deep holes nearby. It will be hit and miss till the cold weather sets in. Then the patterns will be easier to figure out and the catch ratio WILL go up.
