Ok, I was there Tuesday and Wednesday and I can GUARANTEE you that the place was NOT stocked on the 14th. The fish were cleaned out.

well according to the ODWC it was stocked 9/25 so three weeks would make the stock date yesterday. Can anyone confirm?

Yep!! There ain't no fish at Beaver's Bend any more!! Everybody just stay home!! I GUARANTEE IT!!

There are no fish in the Paluxy. (But, if anyone has some fly suggestions for this time of year it would be appreciated. I'm thinking Wooleybuggers.)

Really didn't want to start another thread on this so i thought i might as well add to this one.

I have a camping trip at beavers bend planned on the weekend of November 2nd and I'm considering not bringing as much gear as i normally do because of all of the negative things being said about it right now. I haven't been up there since they switched to a different stocking company and it doesn't seem like I've missed out on much. What in the world is really going on up there? Is it just falling apart?

There was 3 people fishing the EH yesterday. During the week is great. Weekends are kinda bad. After 1 pm on Sundays the river is usually empty of people. Yesterday I fished for 3 hours and landed 12 bows. There are not that many fish like usual. But again the busy season is almost done. Then they will be stocking on top of stockers, since lots of bait chunkers stay away when it's cold out there. There r fish, just thinned out, a lot. There are still 20-24 inch fish swimming around and I think Baffin Bay landed one this morning at 24 inches and also a 20 incher. All it is, is, a bit slower than normal. Fish are being hit hard and they are nervous. 5 pm the topwater bite is greatness in the EH till 30 mins after sun set.

I'm catching them on grey rS2's/ pink near deeres/ eggs in pink shades

U really need to make sure your drifts are good with the pressured fish.

Again. This is ever year this time this subject comes up. Just wait a month. It's will be way better. And when the stop logs come out, more areas open up.

Hey everyone. I want to know, if someone can tell me, I'm pretty sure, when they're generating a person can still fish the Spillway Creek and the Evening Hole, correct? The generating occurs downstream at the power plant, am I right? I'm planning to go Monday. They're scheduled to generate some in the AM. (Yes, I know it would be better to go in a week or so after stocking, but this is my opportunity. 'Sides, I play to try fishing the falling water-levels downstream after generation ceases.)

Another man on another thread who's been in contact with the hatchery folks said that they're putting just as many fish in in terms of poundage. There may not be quite as many fish because they're putting in bigger fish. With stocking less frequently the fish tend to spread out more than before and you can't find the concentrations, says he.

I'm thinking though, that with more infrequent stocking, the river tends to get in a "fished out" state more frequently than before. That is, a few days after stocking, in any case, with the fishing pressure that's there the many dumb ones are gone leaving only the fewer warier fish and the river seems a little "fished out". With more infrequent, albeit heavier, stocking the river's like that more of the time.

If my calculations are correct, though, you're scheduled to hit it just after fresh stocking. . Good luck! jonbo

Jonbo: when they r generating, spillway creek and the evening hole are safe to fish. Zone 2 &3 are not fishing very well and have not in some time.

Stick from the fly shop bridge all the way to spillway dam.

I fished this morning while it was sprinkling, landed 16 trout to 18 inches. All in the Evening Hole. All on grass hoppers. Fun stuff. Rain got back so I'm on break.
