I'm going to Denver for a wedding in the spring and was thinking about booking a trip with a local outfitter. I was curious if anyone here has advice as to whether it would be a waste of money to go in April (I might ski instead).
Their website says they are a year round fishery and they go to the Colorado River, Blue River, South Platte, Arkansas, Williams Fork and Eagle Rivers. The avg high that time of year is about 47 degrees. I really haven't done much research yet, I just thought asking here would be good place to start since I know a lot of you guys also do road trips.

I think the water will be excessively high in the spring with the large volume of snowmelt starting. Expect some muddy, brown, roaring rivers.

We went during March one year to the south platte, we caught some big fish, but it was slow, and required tons of patience. Not to mention it was average 40 degrees, and the wind was blowing about 30mph steadily most of the time. It made for a pretty poor trip.

April is fine as far as runoff is concerned. It wont start getting high and muddy till mid may thru June. Temps can be an issue though. If ur staying in Denver, head over the mountain for a ski/fish day on the Blue river and ski Breckenridge or Copper Mountain. The South Platte in Deckers area is fishable year round, but it sure is tough in late winter. Tiny flies and perfect drifts are needed. The Eagle river in Vail is possible, too.

I am a native coloradoan, that got stuck down here for a while...
We don't bother fishin much around that time of the year... As a snowboarder, I would recommend hitting up Keystone, or Copper Mountain.
Fishin for us in CO (at least where I like to go) is usually better June - Oct
