Texas Fishing Forum members are known for stepping up to support a noble cause and now we are needed in Del Rio, Texas October 18-20, 2013. With the government shutdown, Lake Amistad which is managed by the U.S. Park Service has been closed since October 1st. The City and its businesses are hurting bad without the steady stream of anglers which frequent Lake Amistad. Many tournaments have been canceled and that lost revenue hurts small businesses. To support our friends in Del Rio, concerned anglers are hosting the Anglers For Access Rally. Our objective is two fold. First we want to put heads in beds by filling the hotels with visitors, and put much needed revenue the cash registers of restaurants and tackle shops. Secondly we want to send Washington a message, OPEN THOSE GATES!

We need a line of boats from Del Rio to Diablo East Park to show the media and the country that just like bikers, truckers, and veterans, anglers care about our country and we want to fish!

Where: Del Rio, Texas

When: Friday October 18th Arrive and stay overnight

Saturday October 19th, 2013

- Pre rally gathering 9:00 am Plaza del Sol Mall

- Boat convoy to Diablo East Front Gate 11:00am

- Anglers For Access Rally High Noon Diablo East Front Gate

Sunday October 20th, 2013 on your own, depart

Are you going to move those barriers and go fishing, or is this just a protest?

I understand what you're wanting to do but isn't it kinda dumb to haul your boat all the way to Del Rio and not be able to use it?

Media event primarily. Also working on trying to get Gov. Perry to open park with State funding until Feds get off their rear. Hopefully we will be have a tournament.

Why can't you use the concrete ramp while the Feds are on a short vacation?

If I did not live 8 hours away I would be there. It is not like a boat ramp needs someone to operate.

This closure is designed to make the public feel "PAIN". I can remember a time when COE operated ramps were free to use and open 24 hours a day. There is absolutely no reason why all COE ramps couldn't be open on a "use at your own risk" bases.

Bring some illegals and folks on government support to protest. They will open it up quickly.

the only way to fix this problem is to vote no business in the country can operate the way the fed govt does spending more money than they have . as far as the free coe ramps now they have more govt employees to sit on the gates.
