Ok, recently I have been having a problem with my front lowrance shutting off, its a lcx-28. It sometimes will turn on for about 4 seconds then turn off. I have narrowed it down and it seems to only happen when i have several other accesories turned on as well. I also have a hds7 and the corresponding structure scan, one of those fish sound makers i forget what its called, and then livewell pumps and lights, and any of those might be on at one time. It seems that the lcx 28 will work fine if its the only thing on but the more other stuff i turn on the more likely it is to shut off, and it almost always turns off when i crank the big motor.
All these accessories are hooked into the cranking battery with everything except the hds7 going through an accessory panel. No fuses ever blow but could i be overloading things and what might be a solution. Thanks

What size is your battery? You might need step up and get a bigger battery like a 29 or 31 series. Also might need up grade your ga. of wire to your main electronics.

I have a diehard platinum 31 size basically new. This has popped up in the last year sometime after upgrading to the 7 from a 5 at the dash and adding the structure scan as well. Before that it has worked fine for 6 yrs. I have gone over all the wiring but will look at it again.

Check voltage at the battery, then at the unit (with unit and SS on. If more than a couple 10ths volt difference, you likely have a bad connection somewhere in the boat wiring.

Same thing happened to me when I installed the HDS-7 Gen 2 at the bow. My fix was to run a dedicated power wire pair back to the battery compartment instead of using the boat wiring. Fixed my problem! Note - I used 14 AWG wire to minimize loss between the stern and bow due to inherent wire resistance.

Probably a quick voltage drop when other electronics are turned on. My Hummingbird sometimes loses the GPS signal due to low voltage when I start the boat. More often when I have been sitting awhile running the electronics. I think I could eliminate it by running a separate wire back to the battery.

I have the same battery a Sears Platinum Diehard Grp 31. But it also happened with the Interstate I had prior.

I too had a similar problem with HDS 8 and Structure Scan. I did not have it wired direct to the battery. Once I ran a dedicated wire to the units the problem never showed again.

I had a similar problem on my boat. The original boat wiring is too small. Also, with age the joints corrode and present a high resistance and resultant excessive voltage drop. When live wells come on the voltage at the bow can drop to 9 V. I installed 14 gage wire to the ign battery for the front chart recorder.

I use one dedicated battery for all my 3 Lowrances -2 elite 7's HDI and Hds10 w/structure scan and Hydrowave. I run each directly to the battery with an inline 3 amp fuse. I don't use my crankin or troll battery for my electronics. While fishing up front if I am not using the ones at the console - Elite7 & HDS10 W/SS I turn them off. I have done this for years with no problem. Sounds like a drop in voltage.
