I have bought a lot of boats for cash or check but I've never traded for one even Steven. If I trade my RV for a boat with no money exchanged, how do you handle the tax end of things? I like keeping things on the up and up but if I'm just trading one toy for another I hate to be double taxed. Any help greatly appreciated.

THIS IS JUST A GUESS - ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE STATE FOR CURRENT RULES THAT MAY EFFECT THIS!!!!! Normally if you buy from a private party, you have a bill of sale that gives a price you agreed to pay. In this case you are paying with goods and not currency. It would seem like the sale price would not change just the method of payment. In a sense, this is two cash sales between private parties, you are just paying with goods. The bigger question is to be sure any outstanding liens are taken care of. having a clear title is the only way to complete a deal. We have heard that some states charge sales tax based on the value, selling price does not even come into play. In this case, that would make it easier. Let us know if we can help, Ken

Get a title application form and it will have a spot for trade. Fill that out. You only pay on the difference.

We are in the loan and warranty business. Just as a side note, JP might want to talk to you about being a paying sponsor and advertiser. Thank you, Ken
