Supposed to be rainy all weekend. If you don't mind getting wet, then we need to know what species you want to chase.

Lake Arlington is low, but still fishes well. Bullet Catcher makes Lake Worth look easy wink

Lake Arlington can be good for both of those

I have fished benbrook twice this week, it's not closed. The crappie are feeding like crazy! We were catching big crappie while fishing for sandies and hybrids.I havent caught any hybrids this week but sandies and crappie are thick.
It's easiest to launch at Baja beach. I drive right to the water line and launch.
If not going to benbrook and I have time, I would fish Lewisville

Are the bubbles still on at Benbrook PiePuncher or did the "shutdown" shut those down too?

I don't know, I don't ever look for them. I just head str8 to my spots and fish. The bubbles are not a place I would even consider. I'll check next time I'm out if you would like. I could even drive by and take a peak if you would like
I live a mile and half away, so I head out there a few times per week. The fish are stacked on the humps around Mexican ridge and are moving in shallow late. Hybrids and sandies have been schooling up near the sand on the west side of the lake

If u want crappie, I would do benbrook. My kid caught 5 crappie on a two ounce slab in 20 minutes and I caught three more. Imagine if we had been fishing for crappie

I may have to ask for a teaching trip from ya PiePuncher. I've never been on Benbrook.

The bubbles can produce if you know how to work them. I have pictures to prove it. But yes humps can be more productive for size. I was just curious really. If you happen to drive by and notice then that would be cool. I have all of next week off and I'll probably be hitting up a bunch of different spots!

This sounds terrible but just north of air plane field there is a swim cove, the north side of that cove has a ridge that runs 300+ yards off the shore under water. That is called Mexican ridge. I know how it got its name but I'll keep it to myself if u don't know.
I have caught at the bubbles but it's not a top producing spot regardless of having a few good days. I have caught big blues there but ehave better spots for blues. The large hybrids also usually do not hang at the bubbles. Your definition and mine probably very as to what a good day is. I expect limits+ of hybrids every time out. If I do not achieve that, I'm not happy. Sandies are fun but not my cup of tea. My son loves sandies and he usually catches a limit every time out. If he's not catching right away, he's not happy. A good day is relative and my past few trips have been sorry in my eyes even though we have caught tons of sandies and crappie
Fishing the fingers and edges of the flats in front of the air plane field, the humps north of the air plane fields, Mexican ridge, the edges of the flats in Richardson slough and sometimes the drops along the dam are all better than the bubbles.
The bubbles are not even the place to get bait. The threads there are tiny and why mess with that when you can simply load a cast net up with a ton of gizzards with ease if in the right spots.
I have fished benbrook for 25+ years and am 35 years old. The bubbles are the last place I would go. There are fish there but not what I'm looking for.
If I was taking someone fishing there for the first time, the bubbles would not come close to drawing my attention.

Whoa sorry bud didnt mean to hit a nerver with the bubbles. I mostly fish for LMB and generally have no clue about how to really target and catch hybrids and sandbass. So for me the bubbles are nice and can produce yellows, sandies, hybrids, LMB, and even catfish. I understand that the are probably a ton of better places than the bubbles but I don't know them nor do I know the first thing about what to do when Im on then. I also don't ever catch live bait. Basically what Im saying is Im a LMB fisher more than anything so the bubbles are just something easy and fun to play around in when the bass arent biting.

The bubbles are loaded with yellow bass. You didn't hit a nerve, the bubbles are what they are. Lots of small shad and yellow bass.
I don't bait fish either but you see the newbs to the lake casting nets on the bubbles.....waste of time.
I also understand that catching those little guys can b fun for some but you might as well look a little harder until u find schools of sandies or something. When my kid was 3-4, I let him catch on the bubbles... Was fun then
