So I visited with a sheriff's deputy this morning at the cedar springs ramp on lake o pines and here is the skinny on the ramp.
The ramp is CLOSED. He told me that if I launched on a core ramp, that my vehicle would be towed, and that I would recieve a ticket for remaining after.forbidden.
He also told me that closed signs were put up at one point. He also said that people keep taking them down. Lol
I wasnt going fishing, just wanted to see if they put up a gate or chain, and he was pulling out as I was pulling in.
Just thought I would share. Looks like Tejas or Big Cypress

Unbelievable! How can you write someone a ticket if there is no sign up? Some people know cedar springs is closed and launch anyway. Most people have no clue.

I warned ya'll all last week!

PoPo doesn't play games! He's making money(he's a local cop). Tow Truck Driver makes money (he works for himself).

I wouldn't test it!

Tow Truck from LOP to Longview with truck and trailer....gonna cost you a lot more than a guided trip!!

Thanks for calling and posting that. People seem to think it's a Free Country or something?? wink

Unless they live with their head in the sand they know Pines is closed along with all Corps Lakes across the country. It's been on every local news station, front page of the newspaper, and on the TFF daily!!

This is where I have a problem with the Corps, the Sheriff's Deputy, etc. If there are no signs up, the gates are open as usual and nothing stopping you from launching then how on earth can they tow your vehicle? Maybe the fool from the Park Rangers office is in an English class trying to learn how to spell Government instead of making sure the ramps are "Properly" CLOSED!!!

Does anyone know that since the corps are closed if the dang gates on the damn are closed because they shouldn't be operating if none of the ramps and parks are...

Rumor has it the gates are stuck.

I don't think anyone really knows the answer. Corps won't give a straight answer to anyone....and that was long before this mess started.

I guess I just got lucky last weekend. I went to 155 (Cedar Spring), saw no signs, no gate, etc. so I launched and went fishing. Right along with the other 10-12 people that launched there too. Guess I'll go to Gilmer this weekend instead, fish are biting better thear anyway.

The signs were put up. Idiots took them down. So legal notice was given but the Idiots who took them down placed other people at risk of getting their vehicles towed and being ticketed for being there.

So if you want to blame anybody, blame the Idiots who took the signs down.

It's a shame the Idiots were not caught taking the signs down.
