Hi Guys....

I am usually a crappie fisherman on Ray Bob and can usually
do ok....

But.... I got family comming in from GA this weekend. They
have been fishing with their dad but usually don't catch
enough to keep the kids interested in fishing.

I want to be able to put the kids on some sandbass, to
show em what fun fishing can be.

Where on RAYBOB and with what lures/baits can I get these
kids EXCITED cranking a few in.
No asking for your secret honey holes just the general area
and how to target them. I have GPS and Sidescan if that will
help me with the sandies.

Please PM me if you don't wanna publish here.

Thanks to all!!!

check flats south of wolf island and east of it also. pretty good at times not far off the pilot point ramp. look for flats in 28-33 foot of water. look for the fish with your electronics. best bet for catchen when you are in them is a 1 oz. slad. use a chartruese, blue/white, white, grey something that mimicks a shad. go all the way to the bottom bounce them up and down. make sure you set drags a little loose just in case on of them old 50 lb blue or flatheads come buy. they should really be ganging up with this cooler weather. may even be some birds buy then. good luck and keep a good hold on them poles.

I took one of my employees out with his 3 sons. I was really wanting them to have a good time. I learned somethings. We trolled at 3 knots with crank baits that swim in 5-8 foot down. I was in 11-20 fow and we killed them. If i slowed down under 3 knots the bite wasnt very promising. Right on 3 knots and all were really good keepers. The difference for me was if I troll with a slab the fish are small. Crank bait trolling get the bait under the smalls and causes the bigger fish to have reaction bites. They seem to like chasing the bait. We had 5 rods in the water and at times all five had fish on. Turned out pretty good for those kids. They didnt want to stop!

Also we had most luck out in front of Culp island on the south west side of the lake by the marina.

Thanks for the hints guys....
We had a blast on RR SAT.

Caught a bunch of Crappie, a few LMB and several
nice Sand Bass.

Till the Tornado STRUCK and skeerd the kids.

It never even got over the water that I could tell.
But it sure raised the pucker factor till I was able
to figure out which way it was moving.

Those kids will have some great stories to tell back in GA
about fishing in TX and a Tornado chasing em off the lake.
