I am surprised by the lack of protesting about the government shutdown and the corp. closing all of the ramps that they control. we have tuffman coming up on stillhouse on the 20th I think it is. Im not sure that we will be able to hold it much less pre fish. Our Federal gov. is out of control. We sometimes take our right to hunt and fish for granted. The corp. has demonstrated how easly we can lose these rights. They have locked out, or blocked off even the ramps that aren't manned. The fight that is under way in Washington has brought our little fishing plans to a halt for now. We need to ask ourselves, Whats next? How long before special interests convence our leaders that our boats use too much fuel and our cruel little hooks cause too much pain to the poor little fish. They tax us and send the money to buy votes from those how want more gov. assistance. This I believe, will all come crashing down some day. Before that day arrives they will take the rest of our rights and our money to keep themselves in power. I think that we are to busy working and fishing to make our voices be heard. The powers that want our money and rights have lots of time to lobby and get what they want.

I still believe that the hard working taxpayers out number the freeloaders for now. Not for long. Vote and raise hell for your cause is the only hope that we have!

If we all boaters would stand together and stop using these Corps ramps after this political play is over, maybe we could make a difference. We spend a lot of money to access these ramps and the Corps of Engineers benefits from the fees we pay. Let's cut them off for a while.

The 2012 national election: A report estimating the percentage of eligible voters who cast ballots in Tuesday's election shows the rate was lower than in the past two presidential contests, though it surpassed the rate from 2000. Thursday's report, from the Center for the Study of the American Electorate, put 2012 voter turnout at 57.5% of all eligible voters, compared to 62.3% who voted in 2008 and 60.4% who cast ballots in 2004. In 2000, the turnout rate was 54.2%. Read more: http://www.abc15.com/dpp/news/national/e...s#ixzz2gxKQEa2zSo we had 42.5% too lazy to vote.

I don't know of any ramps on stillhouse that aren't controlled by the corp! I also wonder how many of that 42.5% that stayed home, are informed enough to vote! We have some real dead heads in this country.

I vote, but the electoral vote is what puts a president in the oval office. We are only supposed to feel that are vote counts. Whoever can throw the most poop gets elected because some only look at the news to determine their votes...sad. 49% in the working column 51% in the welfare column If u could stay home and have the government provide everything u need, would u? Not this guy! I will never retire and probably die still trying to work, because I have to support those who will not work! Rant over GOD Bless America!

I still believe that the hard working taxpayers out number the freeloaders for now. Not for long. Vote and raise hell for your cause is the only hope that we have! Lets hope and pray you are right, the ramp deal in all honesty is a small problem compared to what is really the looming black cloud. Its a clear advertisement to push gold markets but go listen to the audio on Stansberry Research on the dollar and where its heading. That will wake you up. I am less annoyed by the ramp deal than I am the fact that in the last shut down under Clinton the unattended corp ramps were just that unattended not defended. This administration wants the division , he wants the classes divided , he wants to be Robin Hood, his legacy will be that of class and racial division. He cant help himself , to insinuate that the Washington Redskins should change their name to appease those offended by it, to say that if he had a son he'd look like Trayvon Martin, and on and on. Again, to the OP if the bill payers of this country are still the majority I pray that they vote, and continue to vote.

It good to here that there are people around that have some common sence. Your correct. The boat ramp is just sign of things to come. This country, and our rights are in big trouble.

the corps of engineers have never cared for fisherman. you can ask them, they have told me in the past their lakes main purpose is for flood control and water. they could care less about fisherman or boaters. we have to thank the texas parks and wildlife for leasing parks and ramps from the corp so we do have some access.

Like most gov. Agencences they are short sited. They always figured that their jobs are safe. They don't have to take into account things like the local economy. Gas and bait for starters.

I'll say this becasue I tell it to everyone who discusses Obama and politics. If you want to have a better government you need to tie the hands of the President. Do not focus so much energy trying to beat the liberal agenda in a head to head battle. Instead focus more energy on getting better Congressmen and tie the hands of the liberal President. Most peolple who "vote for a living" only show up for presidential elections. We need to spend more effort winning seats during the Midterm Elections when the lazy freebie recipiants are unaware of the election. A president is only powerful when he controls a majoity of congress. If you tie his hands he will play ball with congress just like Clinton did.
