I recently took up fly fishing and was looking for ideas where to fish in (610) or around Houston. I attempted to do a search but wasn't able to find anything.

Thanks for your help!

I am way up here in North Texas so have no hands on. But there is a fly fishing club there in Houston http://www.texasflyfishers.org/

YW. That's the cool thing about the fly fishing community, the great majority are more than happy to go the extra mile to hook another angler up. I am sure that'll happen

I hope so, sent an email to the freshwater outings chair figuring that's my best bet.

I lived there years ago, and have FF on Braes Bayou in search of grass carp. Many successfull fish there too. If it were me I would try any and all creeks and community lakes which have access or allow fishing.
Buffalo bayou
simms Bayou
White oak bayou all come to mind.

On the Texas Kayak forum folks routinely chase sandbass on the San Jancinto river as well as Cypress Creek.

Start somewhere and report back. Good luck.

Was in Brae's last weekend. We got rained off of it, but saw just about every kind of trash there was - common carp, buffalo, grass carp, huge pleco, and tilapia. The tilapia tipped the Boga at just over 3#.

Probably going to try Buffalo soon.

Take a drive to the coast and wade Christmas Bay for specs and reds.

Take a walk along your closest municipal golf course and hit the water traps if you are just starting out. You will slay sunfish on every cast. If there is water with fish in it, you can flyfish it.
