While fishing Saturday up near Mud Island, our boat caught two 5 foot saltwater alligator gars, and a 4 foot shark. These all came off a small island flat. I have been fishing in Port A a couple times a year, for the past 15 years and have never seen gar in the bay.
are they abundant?

I have one of the gars while it was in the water at the side of the boat thrashing around. we broke our net on the first gar. so I thought I would film the other gar and shark. I put the phone in movie mode and forgot to hit the "record" button. we got back to the house and I was going to download the movies and I had only one photo of 3/4's of the first gar.

We've seen them spearfishing at the jetty in Port a before. Typically when theres been some rain to push them out of the rivers.
