I wish this or a variance of this was the industry standard. The jack plate ladders are good but with 2 power poles they are useless.

Best tip/ladder I have seen is if in the water, work your way to back behind motor, use trim switch on motor to tilt motor and you up then slide over motor into the boat.
Large people have trouble with ladders, especially when boat tilts with the weight.

Being someone who often jumps in when hot and often thinks about the difficulty of boarding after an accidental swim in the middle of the winter I would encourage you to get a full ladder. I have climbed back in on several types and the full fold down ladder with steps between two beams is by far the easiest to use. This is the type like my factory Ranger ladder. They will all work in a pinch but only if you are in decent shape. This type is the best and you mount it off center enough to be out of the way of Power Poles.

I've heard of the riding the trim/outboard and into the boat but haven't tried it, or had to yet. I'm 6'2" and 305#. I know when I was about 20 years younger and 75 pounds lighter I would climb up the Force outboard of my old man's Bayliner to get into the boat.

Ha.. I wouldn't try that again.. I slipped and cut the [censored] out of my big toe on the prop..I just bought a ladder at basscat that bolts to my jack plate.. still waiting but it will be much better than using the motor and getting stitches..

My seat pedestal broke in Canada a couple of years ago, needless to say I went in headfirst just to keep from hurting myself. I am 63 years old 6 ft. 275 lbs, I had no trouble with getting in boat using my motor trim. But I also added a E ladder later because I don't figure it is going to get any easier, and figure every little bit helps. Jim

I had the E-ladder and with no where to grab on the back of the boat it was useless for me ,you have to have something like a cleat or a handle to pull yourself up , and you have to have some pretty good upper body strength to pull your self up , I'm thinking of getting the one pictured above and installing a pop up hidden cleat to grab onto when lifting myself out of the water

I order a full ladder on any boat I own.
Retirement best job ever.
