FORT WORTH (October 1, 2013)The Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers closed down all of its campgrounds and day-use parks Tuesday because of the federal government shutdown.
Locally, the closures involve campgrounds and parks operated by the Corps of Engineers at Aquilla Lake, Lake Belton, Stillhouse Hollow Lake, Lake Waco and Lake Whitney in Central Texas.

Lets just hope this doesnt last long. Temp cooling off and the bite is going to be getting good. I fish Lake Wright Patman. I have a question, there is 2 private boat ramps on the lake, could you still launch at these ramps and still fish or are we not permitted to be on the lake at all? Anybody know the answer to this? thanks.

It's your park but you are denied access, as with all things public....
Wait, wait wrong forum.
The parks are closed, not the lake. TPWD is still on the job and if you can get to a private or non-fed facility you can fish our publicly owned waters. I fished yesterday!

I've not heard anything about the boat ramps specifically, though if the gates are closed, that precludes using the boat ramp. In order to get to the marina at Cedar Ridge, Belton, you enter through the gate which would give access to the boat ramp. Will check it out today.

The good ole boys in the bass section will tell you that you are half right. It's thanks, Obama, Congress has nothing to do with this problem. From what I understand it is only Corp ramps and Parks that are closed. The Corp lakes themselves are open if private or State ramps are available. And yes, Game Wardens are still working, as most of them are paid by the State.

Find a lake that's open. There are plenty out there.

Ocare laws already enacted have saved my butt already, so i have nothing against them. Explain that statement please Where do i begin? More Generic drugs - saved me a lot of money, Can't drop coverage when sick - saved my inlaws, 80/20 rule - i know where my "choice" of carrier is blowing their money, I finally get an appeal process on turned down claims instead of denial letters, 100% preventative care coverage - saves a lot of money raising a family of healthy kids.. It also reformed spending limits, caps, stopped denial for pre-existing conditions. I was getting denied coverage because a few years ago i went to the dr because i had asthma like symptoms. That condition wasn't a genetic asthama, it was allergy asthma but because of freaking allergies i got ripped off for high risk coverage. Now with preventative care, proper doctors and an appeal process i finally got over that and my rates have fallen back from extremely painful to extremely affordable. I for one also look forward to comparing the ACA exchange rates to our corporate open enrollment rates next year. If we believe in the free markets then having a public exchange should fix the pricing and create competition where there has been none. Yet some schmoe in congress wants to freeze government spending. The very same schmoes who enjoy the very same benefits they're trying to deny to others.
