Well I finally had some time to sit down and wrap up Part 3 from my offshore trip. This was by far the most difficult one that I've done, as I wanted to convey so much but had to work with the footage that I managed to capture. I've realized that it's very difficult trying to tell a compelling story in an accurate way while keeping it to just a few minutes long.

Be sure to turn your sound on.

Feedback is welcome as always.

I have two more videos lined up that will be releasing in the coming weeks: a trailer/highlight reel from the Bluewater Kayak Classic offshore tournament that will be short and action-packed, and then a Kayak Filming 101 video showing how I rig my kayak for filming and some tips and tricks for getting good angles and compelling footage.

Thanks for watching,

Robert

Scary stuff bro. Your reaction after the turtle is eye opening. Your difficulty breathing alone makes it that much more real.

Congrats on the shark.

A little secret on locating your anchor. The BTB regulars use GPS with mob (man overboard) button. It will take you back within a few meters. Also, I use large detergent bottles so I can see them, some guys use the giant orange balloon floats.

Glad you made it back. Your remount looked good.

Nicely done! That's something I doubt I will ever do. That shark was too close to you! Gave me the heebie geebies, even though I saw you at the G2G and knew you still had both arms!

Yeah man, I cut out the 3 minutes of underwater footage where I was swimming as fast as I physically could after my kayak as the current and wind took it towards Rollover Pass. At one point I considered abandoning it to avoid getting sucked into the pass.

It sucks how much I had to cut out to get this down to a reasonable length. I found out how difficult it is to tell a compelling story in 8 minutes. Thanks for the positive feedback.

I can only hope a few guys see this before they go BTB for the first time and take one or two of the lessons to heart. I'll never go BTB alone again.

Awesome video. Sometimes the best you can be is a cautionary tale, at least you sir, tell it very well. Good job and nice shark.

Nice job on the video. I've got a thing about being in murky water, where I can't see whats around me...not a fan. I would have been more than a little freaked out in that water after having just caught a 6-7 foot shark.
