Which do you prefer? Pros and cons of each? what do you use each of them for?

Baitcasters by a huge margin in Texas.

If I'm going out with others and especially if I'm going out on a boat I prefer baitcast, generally have better luck with em. If I'm just going down to the bank with a lawn chair to relieve some stress and relax I like spinning reel. Just a bit simpler and easier to use.

Different applications call for different setups.

For me:

Light weights, finesse, drop-shot, and inshore salt - spinning reel

heavier weights, topwater, spinnerbait, crankbait, jig, pitching, target accuracy - baitcast

Spinning - finesse baits, shakey heads, some topwater plugs with braid

Baitcasting - most topwaters including buzzbaits, crankbaits, jigs, T-rigs

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I can live without a spinning set up and having one is plenty for me.
