I fished from a canoe for a few years and really enjoyed it. Looking for a kayak that I can stand up and fish from...any suggestions?

If your close to Mariner Sails in Dallas please swing by and I'll show you a few. Being able to stand is only one feature you may want. Also if your free onThursdays they offer free demos to make sure you get the kayak that is right for you.

Thanks for the support guys. Taking this job has been a blessing for me being able to get people in the right kayak. If your close to Mariner Sails in Dallas please swing by and I'll show you a few. Being able to stand is only one feature you may want. Also if your free onThursdays they offer free demos to make sure you get the kayak that is right for you. Do Y'all handle the DIABLO, or a comparable. No sir we don't carry the Diablo. When you say comparable, can you share what features you are looking for and how they will be used?

Welcome Brad! The best advise you can get is to demo. Lots of kayaks you can stand in but there is more to it than just that. If this was an automotive forum you just asked for suggestions on cars that come with AC. The answers can run from and 1974 Pinto all the way to a $2.5 million Enzo. On here will get a lot of guys throwing brands at you with that question but whats good for them might not be for you. If I can be any help it will be to demo and you decide. I say this because I have wasted a lot of money buying kayaks off of other peoples suggestions and not thinking about what I really needed.
I'll also suggest Mariner Sails. Great people working there and they don't pressure you. They will help you with any question, they do demos, and have several designs to choose from.
Good Luck!!!

Demo everything you can. What we saw at the GTG last weekend was not everyone has the same stability in different boats. Some can stand easy in one while others struggle. It depends a lot upon your size, build, balance etc. I talked to a few guys who expected the 40" wide kayaks to be a lot stabler than they were for them. I can stand in most kayaks on the market but I'm a light weight compared to what I used to be. The best way to find out is to try. Mariner is a great start. All the suggestions in this post are worth looking at too. We have a great community of kayaking in Texas and lots of brands to choose from.
Price range is going to be important to know going in as well as how you will move it from one place to another.
Best of luck and let us know how we can help!
