What's your go to lure (plastic, topwater, whatever) for this time of the year for specks and reds?

I throw 6inch grubs, when it gets cooler firetail, and oddly enough hotpink sprayed with Pro cure Menhaden, or mullet scent.

Totally depends on "where" you're wanting to heave that piece of plastic.

Area would be Galveston Bay, and just anywhere in general in Galveston nowhere specific.

I'm partial to the Hogie super minnow, it's got a lot of vibration, which in less than gin clear water I believe helps get a few more takers every day.
If it's clear water (see your shoes in thigh deep water) and not too rough, I'll switch to the Norton sand eel.
Pumpkin/chartreuse, white chartreuse, red/white, and hot pink is just about the only colors I carry around. All rigged on a 1/8 oz Oldham screw lock head w/gamakatsu hooks.
That is soft plastics, top waters and spoons get a lot of play this time of year too. If it's slicked over water over a reef that topwater is going to get a lot of use.

I have. Not really what I like. Their action is kinda dead compared to the Norton. Like the TFF bait, looks like a stick going through the water, can't make it do the two foot wide glide that gets the impulse hit like the Norton does. But that's just me, your mileage might vary.

Norton does make some good soft plastics, and durable ones at that.

1/8 gold Johnson spoon is hard to beat. Just be sure and sharpen the hook occasionally

Check out chicken boy lures. The 3 and 4" chicken shrimp is always good. The Psyco chicken shad is also a good bait. The TTF trout killer II is a good option because there's a dozen diff ways to rig it. The hackberry hustler is another really good bait. Check out tidal surge lures, the maniac mullet I've heard and seen is a good bait, I've never personally used it. But it seems like it would be a very good lure. It's hard to go wrong with a super spook jr for topwater and Of course spoons
