Getting married in 2 weeks, so my brother and dad and I took a long weekend to Venice and New Orleans. Cant really talk about what happened in New Orleans, but... uhhh...� yeah.

Fished with Dan Dix of Mid Life Crisis Charters. Cant recommend him enough, a real class act and has a small lodge that works perfect. He runs out of Cypress Cove Marina.

Caught 2 new species for myself (gafftop and jack crevalle), and 12 total species for the boat. Lost a couple hardheads to what appeared to be bonnethead sharks. Caught limits of redfish both Saturday and Sunday, in spite of the weather (rained, a lot, both days) with lots of throwbacks. Caught 2 reds over 20 lbs (my dads 27 pounder and my 22.5 pounder). I threw the fly for the 20 minutes the weather allowed it, but couldnt get any takers.

Looks like an awesome time with your dad and brother! I got to go to Venice last Summer. I got to stay on one of those condos right there at the marina. We must have caught 70 trout and some huge reds the first day, then over 100 reds the next day. The owner of the Condo caught a 50" red on a spook. Couldn't get it out of the fishes mouth. The damn fish would not open his mouth and you could not pry it open. It was amazing! 100 degrees, and the fishing was simply awesome. If I go back I want to get into some of that off shore tuna fishing down there.

I'm only 28, so I hope it's not a midlife crisis, and I would think getting married and Mid-life crisis are more of an oxymoron than anything (I think the D word goes along with MLC more often).

Either way, it was an awesome trip with my brother and our dad! It had been nearly 9 years since I had caught a redfish. Still haven't caught one in Texas.
