I remember last year when I first started getting into bass fishing, I got a ton of bass right after I dropped a weightless trig watermelon red worm into a pond. I don't remember the conditions back then, but I feel like whenever I drop a soft plastic into the water now, it spooks the fish. Is there a certain condition where dropping a trig is extra effective? And... just a newbie question... is it called flipping and pitching?

Weightless Trig worm has been effective for me early mornings when bass are feeding on bait fish in 5-10ft of water next to grass lines. Where slower moving water meets faster moving water.

If you are fishing the same pond, the fish might have gotten conditioned to the weightless worm. Switch things up with a baby brush hog or craw.

I fish local ponds quite a bit and have noticed that the fish tend not to bite what I caught them with a few days before. Some people say it takes a bass 15 minutes to forget it got caught and some say it takes two weeks. I don't have a clue. But, I did notice that I could catch more fish if I changed up my lure or worm.

So you don't think the splash of the trig matters? Just change the plastic?
