I'm always amazed that people don't know the simple classifications of fish here, speaking of Game and non-game. You shouldn't even be fishing Texas waters if you don't know game from non-game fish. That's just asking for a massive ticket.
A few years ago I had to call a GW at Fairfield. There was a guy next to the fishing pier throwing a cast net and raking in 3 and 4" crappie. He had over 30 of them in a 5 gal bucket. I VERY politely asked him if he know those were crappie and had to be 10 inches to keep. He told me to go fornicate myself. So I called the GW. I don't know the outcome but I saw the GW writing at least 3 tickets and he had already confiscated the guys poles and cast net.
It dangerous to not know the law.

It dangerous to not know the law. Thanks for being so smart about this that you had to talk down to someone asking a simple question. I wasn't sure, so I asked the question. Thanks to your smart arse I guess I am not being dangerous anymore. Geez.

No, they are not considered invasive. They were in the river basin before Fork was ever built. They are classified as a game fish and have a daily bag limit. You cannot wantonly waste game fish, which is what knifing them would be. But those suckers have a way of flopping loose and hitting their head on the side of the boat causing immediate death. I 've had them fly out of my hand and hit the bridge pillars, as I am trying to put them in the livewell.................strangest thing I've ever seen

And for what its worth, my reply wasn't directed solely at you or I would have directly replied. It was a general response. And I still maintain, you (not YOU, but the public) have no business on the water without knowledge of the laws. Its dangerous.

It dangerous to not know the law. Just curious, how many years ago is a few? It's been a while since Fairfield has had many crappie to my knowledge. Sorry to go off topic.
Can't we all just get along....

While prefishing for a tournament on Fork In April my son and I got into some monster sandies in the Maggie Bay area. They were killing our spinnerbaits in two feet of water. We had a limit in 10 minutes. Some of the biggest sand bass I have ever seen. T-wok and Chambers have nothing on those fish.

When the rest of the fishing is tough or you have your kids with you, those things are fun to catch and pretty good to eat. The action can be fast and furious when you get on a good school.
