I've had several PM's asking where to find the new Solo jigging reel by Mr Crappie, so thought I'd post that the best place to get them is Grizzly Jig. It's the very best jiggin' reel I've ever used.

I'm curious about this reel. What is it that you like about it? What does it cost? Being a tackle ho I'm willing to change if there is something better on the market, just don't see it in this product, having never used one before. Does the rod come with it or is it something special also?

It is a new reel Bob. Wally Marshall had one at the last CAT meeting. I have not had the opportunity to use one. They are only in left hand models at the current time. I am waiting on the upcoming right hand model myself. The rod is similar to that of a fly rod which gives great balance combined with the Solo reel. Lew's Mr. Crappie Solo Crappie Reels (rod sold separately) $15.95 Lew's Mr. Crappie Solo Crappie Reels Reel Features: 2 Bearing System. New innovative crappie reel design by Wally Marshall. Strong and lightweight graphite frame and spool. Extended reel foot stem for improved handling & control. Wide range, Multi-Disc drag with click function. Large arbor design reduces line twist & increases line recovery.

Bob, About all I do is vertical jig. I've used the BnM, Uncle Bucks, Wally Marshall, and other small reels as a line holder for years. This reel is several steps above anything I've used before. Main difference to me is the smoothness of reeling in the line, drag system, large spool, and esp the fact that it's designed to keep the line from getting behind the spool. Like you, I'm a tackle ho, and for the price of $15, it's a great fix!

Guess I might try one when the right hand model comes out. Can't beat the price.

Called David and have two ordered for me. Saw them at the CAT meeting and they look like a quality product.

That might be good on line memory too, with it being as big around as it is. It would need to be right handed for me also.

What kind of rod would you match with this, I like it the way it is, as I can use it like a spinning reel and jig with it. For seventeen bucks it's a no brainer for me. Looks dang good too.
