This is a true story, and I'm only posting in this section, because I know there are a lot of Hubbard regulars here...

Last week I was bass fishing with a buddy down around the rocks at the inlet of 3 fingers cove. (at least I think that's the name) We saw 2 people up on the bank behind the trees. I thought it was odd, but didn't put too much thought into it. Then out of nowhere THEY SHOT AT US! They missed, and hit the water about 5 feet from me. I couldn't tell if it was a pellet gun or a subsonic 22. Needless to say I flipped SH!T, and immediately started yelling at them. They ran off, and we thought they were just kids. We heard their car start up and drive away, so they had to be at least 16. We never called the police, because by the time our addrenaline settled we figured all was safe, and we really couldnt do anything about it. I hate to be one of those crazy NRA type people, but with as much cr@p that happens around the metroplex (especially Hubbard) it may not be a bad idea to protect yourself.

Which brings up the question... Do I need to have a CHL to keep a pistol on my boat?

I know what you're thinking, and NO we didn't catch any Hybrids. We only caught 3 bass wink

Hmm... Good question. If a CHL instructor doesn't chime in soon I'll research it for you.

However for what it's worth - in Texas you do not need a CHL to carry concealed in your automobile. I would suspect that extends to a watercraft.

I believe it all depends on the which entity has jurisdiction over the lake. From what I understand, no CC on Corps lakes.

correct, no conceal carry on federal land or waters, including corp lakes, even if water access is granted through private adjoining land or city land.

Scarry stuff! This can happen at any lake imo, but chances are much lower if you were hybrid fishing instead of the green trash fish grin

Texas law was amended in 2011 to redefine carrying a firearm in one's vehicle as legal, unless you fall under one of the four exceptions. The amendment also defined carrying in the boat as a vehicle. The law further stipulates you can carry your firearm from your vehicle to boat and back legally.

The COE issue always comes up. The odd thing is, many COE lakes have designated areas for hunting and allow duck hunting anywhere on the lake. Some COE lakes have signs posted "No Firearms Allowed" but still allow duck hunting. So as usual, the Feds speak with forked tongue. Fed law will trump State law normally because no one at the State level is going to defend you as abiding by State law in this instance. Many States are passing laws that state the State will not abide by some Federal laws. But that won't help you in this instance.

And there are no federal law enforcement officials on ray Hubbard. Any GW or DPD officer will only enforce state law.

I carry regularly on ray Hubbard and don't think twice about it.

WHAT A RETARD !!!!!lIKE TERRORIST WILL CHECK THE LAWS?

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said allowing more guns onto Corps property would increase danger to the dams, flood control systems and other crucial water projects.

"This critical infrastructure is a target for terrorists," she said. Allowing more guns "sets up a national security threat. It endangers people."

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

That would be a poor excuse for a dam. LOL
