never fished plastic in saltwater, but going to Galveston next week. Wanna have something on hand to try. What and what color to have handy? I always here shrimptail plastics, but as for color?

Will they eat Sassy Shad?... got tons for striper and hybrids

Thanks,
Scooter

Shad type plastics are very good. Pumkin/chartreuse, white/chartreuse, red/white tail are the three colors I keep.

For me the best color for catching specks is chartreuse silver glitter and limetreuse.

Plum and white is a good color for Galveston.

Glow, pumpkin/pearl, black back/white belly, and pink. It should be noted that I fish primarily at night though. I know you can wear them out on almost any color though. Adjust to condtions-darker or glow colors in low light or water with poor visibility, and lighter more natural colors when there is greater visibility.

As you can see, everyone has favorites, I'm as convinced mine are right as they are also. What that means, get some confidence in a couple of colors and you'll catch fish on it. Very rarely have I ever seen a "magic" color that was the only thing a trout would hit, so if you think they'll bite it, they probably will.

Plum/Chartrues work well for Me. I fish the Surfside Freeport area. if ya get into some clear water go with a natural color. Clear with gold flake.

Lol there isn't a magic color, Its all in the action, water color does play a role in it as well. I normally just throw doa glow shrimp or glow/gold rush when the water isn't clear.

I throw about the same colors for the minnow (sassy shad) baits as I do the fluke (eel) baits, only big difference is in really clear water I use the Norton eel in Baffin Magic (hot pink).

80% of color's from manufacturers are good, but it all depends on what water color ur in, since ur going to galveston water will probably be a little murky, chartreuese and white are good, u can have them with a little red on the tail, looks like a weak bleeding fish if presented properly, i like gulp, with a jig head, better casting distance and possibility of flounder , if your fishing off the top u want something to contrast with the blue sky(dark) mid colomun sparkly bits work better reflecting sunlgiht looks like scales , lower brighter colors since sun light wont be as present and water gets darker so fish need something to catch there eye,
