I never did like taking the road most traveled, down current, or in a big group. So are there any brave soles left in Texas. Where's YaknAggie when you need him??? Hahaha. I should be there. There's the LSKS inshore tourney in Galveston that same day... still debating.

Okay fellas... Two days out... If you're planning on being there post up or send me a PM. Couple things. Buncombe Marina is almost an hour of driving time away from Eisenhower SP. Since there's a 1pm weigh in that would eat up too much fishing time to make the trip there and back IMO. That means fishing up somewhere north or over on the west side is what I'm opting for. Maybe in the marina cove itself? I dunno. Only place I've ever fished at Big Tex is down by the dam or the SP. Thing is, to be legal when launching in Okieland you gotta have the Texoma pass. If you're like me and heading up in the morning there might some issues finding a place open that morning that sells licenses. I went ahead and bought my Texoma pass online at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/business/licenses/online_sales/. You print out the receipt and you're good to go. Might be a good idea to do the same. Another option up on that side is Soldier Creek. Or you could cross back over and fish the walnut creek area not far from 377 bridge. Personally I'm inclined to stay up on the north side as there looks to be a front pushing through that morning with a pretty stiff north wind. Anybody ever bass fished the west or north side?

You can buy a Texoma license at any WalMart. Something else to consider is all the Corps of Engineers parks are CLOSED due to the government shutdown. That is going to limit camping and launching to private and state owned parks/ramps.

You can pre-fish til midnight tonight. Just want to give everyone a reminder to dress appropriately for tomorrow. It will be a chilly 49 degrees with wind 15-20 out of the north and possible showers as we launch. If the weather does prove to be severe in the morning there is a chance we could have a rain delay until the storms move through

Beautiful lake, fished it late this morning after checking out the different launches in the area. Looking towards the Oklahoma side from ramp on Texas side. Plenty of places to hide from north or south winds.

Fishing was great last night but once the front came through this morning we only caught a few. Seen a few yaks on the water. They must have been fishing for striper because they was fishing the channel. Doubt they will catch ditch pickles in 40'+ water.

Well... I think there were 18 or 19 there but Louis and I were the only 2 Tejanos... He did great, getting 2nd overall in the 3 fish bass limit and also biggest striper fishing in buncombe out off the western main lake points with a rattletrap I believe. I made the bright decision to drive 35 minutes east and ended up having a dinkfest over in Soldier Creek. Wind was freakin ridiculous at times and I had a bona fide teeth chattering experience at weigh in. Cold and wet!!! I tried bunting for the win while Louis and some of the OK guys where hitting standup doubles and triples. Our top 2 (2nd and 5th place) against their top 2 (1st and 3rd) meant the Okies have the bragging rights for this year. They also added in the biggest striper but Louis's big one wasn't enough to overcome my mediocrity. Hopefully next year circumstances will allow more Texas guys at this one! Had a good time though. Saw that water for the first time ever as the sun came up and managed to boat a few. The OK guys are super nice and friendly, and Brent and Ryan ran a great event. We definitely need to make this a tradition fellas... Thanks again Brent and Ryan and kudos to a very nice tourney day Louis! We'll get 'em next time!!!
