I see there mettle reels are on clearance surely there not going to quit saleing them?

I was told just a few weeks ago by a store employee they were changing the design/discontinuing the current Mettle. I have no idea if it's true. I've never seen the reels on clearance before, I've seen them on sale for clearance prices. Them being on clearance worries me. I don't know if the guy I talked to knew his stuff or not but he seemed to.

beware of the employees.....i went in looking for downriggers in Mesquite and told the guy on the floor i could not find them ...he said we have a bunch of em over here...he took me to the trolling motors and said HERE YA GO .....I gave him a quick lesson on the mistake...he said ....OH MY BAD ......

Academy seems to be in a perpetual tail spin when it comes to fishing inventory.

^^^^ Hunting section seems to lack this year too.
BUT they do have a store full of Duck Dynasty gear! LOL!
BUT no steel shot to shoot ducks with!

Looks like they have also stopped selling gallon containers of yamalube as well. Their selection of zoom products and colors continues to decline every trip. Cant decide which retailer i despise more now...Academy or BPS.

My store is fine fully stocked and has mettels on sale. I picked up three yesterday and I was also told before yesterday that they were getting a new model that will be 59 instead of 49.

The one in Lewisville is pretty good. But when things go on sale or clearance you better get there soon or its gone.
The BPS vs. Academy choice is easy for me. I think the H2O lures are worlds better than the BPS brand. And I've never really been impressed with Bass Pros plastics. Rods and reels BPS is better but for tackle its gotta be Academy.

For those of you that live in the Flower Mound area...consider yourself to be very lucky that they're opening up an Academy on October 11th. It's going to bigger and better then any other Academy I have been in. They are going to have a really nice fishing section! How do I know you ask??? I may or may not be working in the hunting and fishing section.
@Brazos Bass Cat, you won't be disappointed at the zoom products at this store. They have one aisle dedicated to zoom products.
