Fished Port O'connor last week. Water was up from storm surges but we were able to dodge any significant rain. Tons of reds between 17-19 inches in the the flats and shallows. 15-20 per day but all rats. Bigger fish could be seen tailing deep in the mangroves(?) on the flooded islands. Trout were far and few between. Shrimp and croaker available at Froggies, Fishing center only had croaker. Lots of action but few keepers. Fish hit shrimp and Gulp under poppers, assasins and paddle tails. Any color with a chartreuse tail. Caught fish in Little Mary's, Saluria, Big Bayou, Big Bay, Oil well cuts #1 and #2. Best success was to work the prevailing eastern wind. Casting across points or pockets that had bait pushed into them. Saw one local fella fish a back lake by fanning out 4 lines with croaker under poppers and waiting on the bite. Wife and I boated 5 keeper reds to 27" and 2 trout to 22" for the week. Saw 2 alligators and a really cool flying manta ray. Great vacation.

I was there as well and we had about the same luck. Fished Friday. Had the brown bottle flu on Saturday.
