I started my new Nuclear Quality Assurance job at CB&I in Lake Charles 5 weeks ago and am a happy camper. The wife will be joining me around the end of Nov. I've fished since I've been here but mostly been scouting around Cameron, Holly Beach and the off-road, side of the road stops on 27. Nothing to show yet but until I get a boat, I'll probably be fishing the new jetty-pier in Cameron.
I've been a German Texan descendent in my life and can trace the Echterhoff name back to great-great grandparents ships arrival on Indianola to 1833. So nobody give me any do-do. LOL! I'll probably be at this job the rest of my life. I have no one to thank for this journey through life but my good Lord, Jesus Christ. CF?

Cameron is the place to be. I've caught huge reds and blacks from the jettys there. Come November the flounder will be so thick at the ferry you can walk on them.
Yes you can trust the Government, just ask the Indians.

I met Tony Fontenot "the Casting Cajun" through U-Tube but not yet in-person. The jetty is now a combo pier-jetty. You're the first guy to mention flounder around there. When I asked about flounder, most of them looked at me as if I farted.

Back when I was stationed at Fort Polk I used to go fishing down there almost very weekend. Those channels along the side of the highway down to holly beach are worth the stop. On the east side of the highway is the salt and brackish. On the west side of the highway is fresh and alligators. No joke. Watch out for them. Reds are always in those channels. Shrimp on a Carolina rig will get them. Pogie minnows on 1/4 oz jigs will get the flounder, the flounder will be tight up against the banks. Go down to holly beach and head west along the coast, you can find specks all over the place, when the water is real clear, you will be able to see their orange mouths flashing in the surf. Didn't believe it until I saw it. Double drop jigs for the specks. You can stop at the fish processors and buy bait shrimp, just bring a bucket. Don't forget that crabs are real easy in those channels along the highway, turkey neck on a string and a net are all you need. Good luck!

When the Flounder start running out if you have your boat by then hit the two passes at the bottom of the lake where they enter the Intracoastal. There and down by the Poagy Plant!
