I sent my broken 1198c SI in to Humminbird on Monday for repair. Tuesday Humminbird called me for method of payment info. Today (Friday) FedEx delivered my baby back to me all ready to go. They had to replace the display. While they were at it they updated my software. I didn't make any nagging phone calls, no pleas for a quick turn around time. The turn around time is incredible and the flat rate cost wasn't too bad (given the cost of a new unit). Thanks to the service folks at Humminbird!

I'm glad to hear it. I'm taking my 858Di HD unit into them on the 30th for service. I only live 300 miles from them and I'm retired and want to look over the camping and fishing at Lake Eufalia so decided to drive there.

This is my problem:

I've been experiencing a problem with my Humm 858 Di HD Combo and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I can only have Chart Select when I start up in simulator mode. Also, if while in Chart Select I choose right chart or left chart and restart the GPS, It doesn't find my chart. If in simulator mode I choose (Auto) in Chart Select, it finds my card and loads, no problem.

The main problem I have is that while operating in Auto, with my Platinum card, I don't have Chart Select so I can't choose the Fish mapping. The only way I can get it is to shutdown, restart in simulator mode then I have Chart Select and can choose the fish mapping. I just contacted Humminbird Support so maybe we'll get this problem solved. I have the latest software version installed.

What software are you running on your unit? Are you starting the unit up with the card in the unit? If so have you tried to start up the unit in normal mode then put the Navionics card into it?

Due to canceling my fishing trip due to weather I went ahead and took my unit into Humminbird today. It was a 600 mile round trip so I'm pretty tired but I'm glad I went. They replaced the card reader and informed me about starting it up without the mapping card and then putting it in and I'd have Chart Select all the time. I wasn't doing this. I didn't want to take out the card because it was stuck and I'd have to pull it out with the tweezers. That problem is solved now that they replaced the card reader. I had this problem since day one. The service was great. I got it there and was finished and on my way home in an hour and 15 minutes. Excellent, and I'm looking forward to everything working right now. Thanks for you help.
