What effect if any does the rain have on the trout and reds?? I'm supposed to be down Sunday to fish but I don't want to waste my time if the fist are shut off.

Unless its pouring for days and days (which it hasn't, yet), they'll be little to no effect.
Lots and lots of rain and runoff can desalinate the water, causing the fish to move elsewhere from where they normally are.
However, its more of safety than the bite. I wouldn't be out there if there's strong winds and lightning.

Reds can tolerate freshwater so it doesn't bother then as much. I have caught alot at the mouths where water drains into the bays, easy meals coming down.
