I don't know where he gets them, but the hooks he has on the jigs are awesome. They are super strong, and will usually break before they bend. I had got turned off on sickle hooks, after losing some monster crappies, while tournament fishing. So I quit using them. Then I tried the hooks CV sells, and they are a whole different hook. You can take one and hook the point on a piece of wood, and pull and it holds strong. Sometimes , especially if you tie a loop knot on a jig, you will hit the hard roof of the mouth of the crappie. If you have a dinky hook, it will bend and u can lose a fish of a lifetime. CVs hook will break before it bends, but takes ALOT to break it. I rather risk losing a jig, than losing a trophy crappie. If you ever fish tournaments, and lose one because a hook straighten out, as you watch that big fat crappies swim away, it will haunt u for a long time.
When u get to a high level of fishing, just as sports, it becomes more abt eliminating errors. whoever makes least mistakes wins. crappie fishing can be like that..
I see things people do all the time, that cause them to lose, fish, like switching angles when they reel in fish, they keep turning to left, or right, instead of reel straight in,, that is working the hook loose in fishes mouth. Also people who switch hands, .. they set hook with one hand., then change to other hand to reel. That split second gives slack in line, and fish can spit hook.
Eliminate the things in your equiptment and fishing habits that cause you to lose fish, and in the long run, it all adds up.

They are Matzuo black nickel sickle hooks. They are good hooks and is what i use on all of my jigs as well. Very strong and have a good landing rate.

You got some good'uns there! Although, you shoulda got a few Pepop's to go with them. LOL.
